Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra: “Something Classical”

  • Sewickley United Methodist Church 337 Broad Street Sewickley, PA, 15143 United States (map)

The Charles Wesley Music Foundation and Sewickley United Methodist Church are pleased to welcome the Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra for Something Classical, an evening celebrating the beauty and timeless appeal of orchestral music.

The Pittsburgh Civic Orchestra opens with Beethoven's Symphony No. 1 in C major, the work that first announced his voice to Vienna. After intermission the program turns to Mendelssohn's Overture for winds and Rachmaninoff's wordless Vocalise, then to Puccini's 'Nessun Dorma' in an arrangement by J. S. Gregg commissioned for James Cunningham and the PCO, featuring principal trumpet Michael Anischenko. The evening closes with Calvin Custer's orchestral survey of The Beatles.
