The BROADcast Concert Series welcomes renown sitarist, Michael Griska, and Ashish Sinha on tabla, for an evening of “Traditional Music of India”.
Experience an Evening of music from India that is relaxing and meditative yet invigorating. Hindustani Music uses micro-tones to color the mind and evoke an emotional sentiment to resonate the human body. Michael Griska will take us on a music journey exploring these emotions through music on the Indian classical instrument called the sitar. He will be accompanied by Ashish Sinha on tabla, who will demonstrate the beauty and complexity of Indian rhythms.
Michael Griska performs and teaches North Indian Classical Music better known as Hindustani Music on the sitar and surbahar. He is a disciple of world-renowned sarod player, Pandit K. Sridhar. The music that Michael performs: is rooted in the Dhrupad tradition with long meditative alaaps, Khayal and
